3 frozen food recipes for your gatherings

If you are the host of gatherings with your friends, coworkers or family, you have just found a treasure that will save your life. We share with you 3 incredible recipes so that you can be the best host.

Make your meetings less headache-inducing

It happens to all of us that in order to give our guests the best we end up complicating things, but from now on, that will not happen again, thanks to these 3 easy recipes that you can make with our frozen food from Gentile.

Recipe #1: Cheese arepa with shredded beef

For 4 servings, these are the ingredients you need:
  • 4 arepas of our Gentile frozen food.
  • 1 large ripe banana, peeled and diced.
  • 1 avocado, diced.
  • Butter.
  • Fresh cilantro.
  • 2 pounds of flank steak.
  • 9 cups of water.
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper.
  • 1/2 cup of hogao.
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste.

In a pot, add the meat, water, salt and pepper. We suggest some measurements, however, you can season to your liking. Cook over medium heat for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the meat is fully cooked.
Once you've done this, remove 1 cup of the liquid you cooked the meat in and set aside. Remove the meat from the pot, let it cool, and shred it with a fork or your hands.

Now it's time for hogao. In case you don't recognize it, hogao is a typical Colombian stew or stir-fry, made with tomato, onion, and whatever seasoning you want to add, be it salt, pepper, a little garlic, or whatever you think gives it a good flavor. All you have to do is put vegetable oil, butter, or olive oil (whatever you prefer) in a pan; add the chopped onion, chopped tomato, salt to taste, and the other seasonings and wait until it has a soft texture.

Next, put the shredded meat, the hogao, the tomato paste and the cup of cooking liquid you saved in a frying pan. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. While this is cooking, take another frying pan and brown the diced plantain with a little butter for about 3 minutes.

Finally, comes the secret touch: the arepas from our Gentile frozen meal. Take the non-stick pan you have available and add butter. Put the arepas in and cook them for 3 to 5 minutes on each side until they have a crust or until they are golden.

All that's left to do is serve it. Cover the arepas with the meat, plantain, avocado and fresh cilantro and enjoy!

Recipe #2: Falafel wraps in yogurt sauce

Take note of the ingredients:
  • 1 Middle Eastern style flatbread or pita.
  • 4 slices of falafel from our Gentile frozen meal.
  • Avocado.
  • A small handful of parsley, cilantro and mint leaves.
  • 1/2 lime, juiced.

Yogurt sauce

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt.
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice.
  • 1/4 cup seeded cucumber, chopped and juiced.
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Cayenne pepper to taste.

Let's start with our sauce. To make it, you just have to mix the ingredients we listed above (the ones that say yogurt sauce). Adjust the seasoning, taste the flavors, and serve it in a container.

Next, take the flatbread or pita and heat it on each side for 30 seconds in a dry pan. Finally, assemble your wrap with the yogurt sauce, falafel, avocado, herbs, lime juice and a little chili sauce (optional). Now, roll it up and get ready to be loved by everyone!
