
Arepa Recipe With Minced Meat
Ingredients
4 Servings
4 Gentile arepas, cooked.
1 recipe for minced meat.
1 tablespoon of butter.
1 large ripe banana, peeled and diced.
1 avocado, diced Butter.
Fresh cilantro for ganish.
Minced Meat Recipe
2 pounds skirt steak
9 cups of water
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup of hogao
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Methods
Step 1
For the shredded meat:
In a pot, place the skirt steak, water, salt and pepper.
Cook over medium heat for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the meat is cooked.
Measure 1 cup of the liquid used to cook the meat. Reserve
Remove the meat from the pot, let it cool and shred it with a fork or with your hands.
In a saucepan, place the shredded beef, hogao, tomato paste and 1 cup of the meat liquid.
Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 2
In a medium skillet, melt the butter and add the diced bananas. Brown the bananas for about 3 minutes and set aside.
Step 3
Add the butter to a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the arepas in the pan and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, until a crust forms or they turn golden.
Step 4
Place one arepa on a serving plate, top with the shredded meat and add the avocado and plantain.
Scatter with fresh cilantro and serve.
